Some Gifts

Christmastime is such a fun time of year. A season for giving and receiving and celebrating the greatest gift of all! The birth of Jesus Christ! Recently I received two gifts that I would like to share with you!

~*~

Last Saturday the lace guild I belong to
had their annual Christmas party and gift exchange.

We each bring a lace related gift and
set them on a table.
We pick numbers and in numerical
order go up to the table and pick a gift.

This year I drew #1!

Lucky me!!!
I got to be the first to go up to the table to
pick a gift.

This is what I got!!!
It's a vintage glass ornament
in the image of a little hedgehog.
See...he even has strawberries by him.
Isn't he cute?

The Hedgehog is the lacemaker's mascot.

Here is the other side.
Look! It's the south-end of a north-bound hedgehog!
Ewwwwwwwwww!!!

It was a fun Christmas party.

I gave away a plastic shuttle and some
DMC size 80 Christmas red and Christmas green thread.

~*~

Now for the second gift!
This one has nothing to do with
Christmas, but it's special
just the same!

It's the
Kreativ Blogger Award!

I was nominated by two fabulous bloggers!
Thank you, Jessica from Kids Napping? I'm Scrapping!

Thank you, Karla from Ramblin' Roads!
It's always such an honor to have
a blogging friends share an award!
Edited update 12/13/08: I received a third nomination from
Thank you, Judy! (end of update)

The rules are:
Okay, here's the thing about rules that
I'm noticing. I received this award from two
fabulous, very creative bloggers with two
different sets of rules!
How's that!?!
(hypothetical question)
One version is traveling w/ 5 successors and
another version is traveling around
w/ 6 successors and a tag!
LOL!
So, I just combined the two:
6 successors and no tag.
Wadda ya think of that?
(again, hypothetical question, here)

Mention the blog (in this case, blogs) that gave it to you.
Share the love with six other wonderful blogging friends.
Now, who to share it with...

2) Victoria of Sweet Victoria Antiques.
(right back atcha! I heart you, too!)
and...
OOPSY!
7) Bethany from Love From My Studio
Hee hee, I picked the first six
people with blogs
to comment on my previous post!
Look, I know that may seem lazy,
however,
everyone who comes to visit me is
sooooo creative that it is
getting impossible to choose
for these fabulous awards!

Bethany was actually number 6 to comment on my previous post, but
by the time I realize she had a blog link on her blogger
profile I'd already told the 7th commenter on my previous
blog post that she had an award so...there ya go....

I am breaking my own rules!

Oh, well.

~*~

Thank you for coming to visit and letting me share some gifts with you! I hope you come again soon and I'd love to hear from you, so feel free to leave a comment! I promised I'll be better about commenting back this time. :)

Sincerely,

~TattingChic :)

  3. What a precious ornament! I love the hedgehog. I had no idea he was the lacemaker's mascot. Very cute!

  4. Oh I love that little hedgie...all north and south of him, he's too cute! Had no idea he was the lace makers mascot. Thanks for the award...whether I'm 6th or 7th no matter to me it was still kind of you to think of me :)

  5. Hi Bhavani Harikrishnan. Thank you for visiting! Thank you for your nice wishes!

Thank you, Linda. Yup, the hedgie represents lacemaking because of his prickly back looks like the pins the bobbin lacers use to make their lace. That, and I think hedge hogs are a bit friendlier than porcupines, LOL!

Hi Becky, glad you stopped by! Yes, he is. I think it's kinda funny, myself!

Hi Bethany, thanks for your sweet comment and enjoy your award!

  7. That's a cute hedghog! But I wonder why a hedgehog for a mascot??? Congrats on another award!......

Ooops nevermind I just read your comment that explained it....and it actually makes sense (o:

  8. Oh that hedgehog ornament is so cute, I can see why you did choose that one.
Oh and another award - you must be the queen of awards ;-) - and you've earned it. So a big congratulations with this one too.

  9. Your Christmas party sounds like it was a good time! The ornie is so cute-I didn't know he was the mascott! Congrats on the awards too!

  10. I love your new ornament...he/she's such a cutie!

  11. aaah! You are so great. Thank you!! but I <3 you the mostest! lol

  12. Congrats on the award!!!
Love the little hedgehog... but I have to ask a really dumb question- why is he the lacemaker's mascot? Inquiring minds (mine!) want to know!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Me again- I just saw the comment you left for Linda as to why the hedgehog...(duh)
    That's really neat!!!

  14. Hi,

    What a cute vintage ornament!

Just to let you know that muscovado sugar is a "unrefined brown sugar with a strong molasses flavour"!

Hope that helps if you try out the recipe!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oh, your hedgehog is so cute and well done on the award! You deserve it! Kathryn.

  16. I have never seen an ornament with a hedgehog. Too cute!

  17. Congratulations on your present and your award! I had been wondering about how a hedgehog had anything to do with lace. Now I know why one would be on a shuttle! I learn something new everyday.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Congratulations on your award! The oprnament is so cute, why is the hedgehog the lacemakers mascot?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hey! Oh, congrats on the well-deserved award, and thank you for mine! What a great surprise. I like your method of choosing, heheheh. :D

The hedgie is gorgeous! What a find. Vintage! Who knew they made hedgehog ornaments. I also thought it was funny how 3 in a row said basically the same thing about not knowing it's the mascot. Well, I'll add to that: I didn't know it was the lacemakers mascot! And now that you've explained it, of COURSE, it makes perfect sense!

    Have the most perfect day!

  20. Love your oranament! I use to have a sweet little hedgehog as a pet a few years back! Hedgie was very shy but a cutie and we spoiled him! Your tatted snowflake below is beautiful!

    Hugs,
    Maryjane

  21. Thank you, Kathi! Christmas hugs back to you!

Yup, that's the reason, Lady SHuttle Maker. It doesn't make sense from a "strictly tatting" point of view, but being a lace-guild we have lacemakers of all kinds.

Thank you, Susanne! I actually picked the gift while it was still wrapped and I got lucky!

THe party was fun, Tam! Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you, Tinkerverve. I think he's kinda cute, too!

Awwwww...thank you Kids Napping? I'm Scrapping! We could go back and forth on this and of course I would win, LOL! But it would look wierd to other people! LOL!

You're so cute, Farm Chick Paula! I'm so glad you stopped by and left me (lucky me!) 2 (count 'em!) TWO comments!!!

Wow, Vintage Tea! Thank you for explaining that to me. Now I can sound like a "refined" baker; unlike the muscavado sugar!

Thank you so much, Kathryn! I'm glad you stopped by.

Thank you for stopping by, Nancy!

Yes, Tattrldy, that is why you will see hedgehogs related items for sale at lace related stores or shows.

Hi Kathleen Grace! I'll share with you what I told Linda above: "the hedgie represents lacemaking because of his prickly back looks like the pins the bobbin lacers use to make their lace. That, and I think hedge hogs are a bit friendlier than porcupines, LOL!"
Thar ya go! That's my story and I'm STICKING to it!!! Pun not intended, hee hee!

Hi Bella Sinclair! That method of choosing saves me headaches, LOL! I should probably just do a post about the hedgie and how it came to be the mascot...maybe I should do a little research before I do that. I'm just going by what the ladies at the laceguild told me...not that they lied, but maybe there's more interesting stuff about it...and now...I'm RAMBLING! Okay, DONE!!!

Hi Maryjane! I've heard before that hedgies make really cute and sweet pets. They kinda scare me, LOL! Isn't that funny!?!

  22. What a cute hedgehog ornament. I love Christmas and decorating my tree with beautiful blown glass ornaments. I use to live in Kalamazoo, Michigan and they have the world's largest Christmas store in Frankenmeuth Mi. The ornaments they carry are from all over the world. Here is the link: http://www.bronners.com/ We use to visit it twice a year and I got beautiful ornaments from there.
    Happy Holidays!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today!
I'd love to hear what you have to say!

While you're leaving your comment so dear
This is what I'd rather hear...

If "TattingChic" seems like it's too long
"Chic" or "Chiclet" will sound like a song.

In other words, you see,
Please don't call me "TC"!

Please! :)
...and thank you!
