My Precious...

Remember Gollum? He was a character from J.R.R. Tolkien's Ring Trilogy. He was a "little" obsessed about a certain object; a piece of jewelry, let's say. He could often be found stroking and staring at his beloved object saying over and over, "my precious...". For those of you who may need a refresher on what that sounded like...

~*~

...here's a little clip from the movie

"The Lord of The Rings".

WARNING: It's not pretty!

Thank you, 420glass!!

Ewwwwwwwwwwwww!!

Creepy-scary, HUH!?!
Okay, maybe I'm not quite as badly obsessed as that guy,
but I did find something I can't stop staring at!
It is beautiful and perhaps, if I show you, then
you won't be able to stop staring at it, either!
It's this beautiful Three Muses Cameo
Tatting Shuttle made of rare pink ivory wood.

Isn't it pretty? It's "my precious", LOL!

Here's another angle...just in case you want more.

;)

It came as part of a set.

Here it is with the matching magnetic needle minder.
I special ordered it from Dave at

Grizzly Mountain Arts!

Dave is a gifted artist who hand carves

unique and beautiful needlework tools.

You should check out his work; you

won't be disappointed! It's magnificent!

Thank you, Dave! I LOVE IT!!!!

~*~

Speaking of things I love...

I recently received the

February Snowflake

from Fairiebee!

Above, you will see the snowflake in it's package with

the title of the snowflake's pattern and size thread

that she used.

Below, is this pretty snowflake

outside of it's wrappings!

Isn't it pretty?
Thank you, Fairiebee!

~*~

Well, that's all the show and tell for today! I still need to get caught up on my TIAS that I started to show you in my previous post!
Oh, and before you run off, I'd love to hear what you have to say. Do you have a "precious" that you love, too? LOL! I'd love to hear about it.
Toodles,
TattingChic

Hi Lady ShuttleMaker! I'm so glad you like it.

Hello, One Craft at a Time! Nothing at all wrong with a plastic clover tatting shuttle! My personal favorite to tat with are my plastic Aeros! Glad you like my new toy!

Hi Mona! I do have a post on all of my nice tatting shuttles~minus the ones I've purchased since this blog started...except for Lady Shuttle Maker's ceramic ones, LOL! In other words, just click on the blog label "Tatting Shuttles" and you will find a post called "Just Shuttling Through Life". There you will see most of my nice shuttles altogether.

Hello Grizzly Mountain Arts! I not only like it ~ I LOVE it!!! Thanks for making it for me. :) :) :)

I TOTALLY get where you're coming from !!! For me, it's handmade beads. I hoarde them like crazy and my husband wonders why I have to buy more to make things with ---

"But, don't you have a huge tray of beads right there?"

"BACK OFF", she says, clasping them to her chest and hissing.

Or something like that.

Love your new shuttle and needle minder. I can see why it is your "Precious" Gollum is so creepy, but I loved the movie, my daughter and I even got to meet Billy Boyd who was Pippin the hobbit in Lord of the Rings.

What a pretty snowflake from Fairiebee!

Elyse said...

you are so funny! as soon as i saw the post title i knew there was going to be a gollum-inspired coveted item. so fun. and i love the snowflake. so pretty.

Hi Valerie! Thank you! Yes, the nicer ones are worth the wait. I look forward to seeing what you save up for with the shuttles.

Oh, Lori Anderson Designs! You are a HOOT! That was a very visual comment you left for me. Picturing it made me LOL! Thanks for the chuckle.

No, Carol...Gollum is NOT my "precious", LOL! THE TATTING SHUTTLE is "my precious", LOL! I love the adorable little hobbits from the movie! How cool that you got to meet Billy Boyd! I believe that you had that photo on your blog for a little while, didn't you! How fun! :)

Yes, Elyse! I'm so glad you get it!!! That pen sounds fabulous! I remember when the thick glue pens first came out I was in heaven way back then! I can just imagine what a thin glue pen for glitter is like. I've also used stuff like that for embellishments such as felt fuzz for teddy bears and stuff. FUN!!!

Thanks, Gina!

Glad you like it, Karol!

Gasp! I love it! You know, I collect Wedgewood jasperware teacups -- they have those same ivory relief figures on them. Aren't they just soooooo beautiful?! Definitely a Precious. I would be stroking it lovingly all day long.

Beautiful snowflake, too! So nice to receive a handmade treasure every month!

I don't tat, but that didn't stop me from admiring your little "precious", and then popping over to the link you provided to see what else he has... I just contacted them to see if they can make me something that he had listed but sold.... thank you for the link.

What is my precious?.... hmmm... that would be whatever I am working on at the time... for instance, today it is a lovely new thread I just got... I can't stop admiring its lovely green colour and running its silky smoothness through my fingers... tomorrow, it might be something else... VBG.

Sorry about the mix up on adding your name to the puzzle swap. What I did when I started this project was, I put the names from people who commented in a folder. Then I made a list of the names before going through the comments. My apologies. I took you off :-)
Smiles,
Pat

The three muses Cameo is reallly pretty.

I think that it is the way Gollum used to say ...
my precious and he was a scary little chap.

Your February snowflake is so perfect.

Have a great week

Get OUT OF TOWN, Bella Sinclair!!! You have the Three Muses on some wedgewood tea cups!?? That is too cool!
Glad you like the snowflake, too! It definately is fun to look forward to each month!

Hi Tam, thanks for your comment! I'm glad you like the shuttle and needle minder! They are just gorgeous to me, LOL! I think it would so totally cool if you did learn to tat someday.

OMGosh, Needledreams! You are a HOOT! "The Fellowship of the Shuttle"!!! Oh, I love it! What a great chuckle you gave me! Thank you, I needed that. I promise not to turn into Gollum.

Hi Reen! Thank you for visiting. I'm glad you like the shuttle.

Thanks, Clyde. Glad you like the shuttle. Thank you for letting me share it with you.

Hi Heather, I hope you do get whatever it is you're looking for from Grizzly Mountain Arts. His pieces truly are beautiful works of art. I wish I could get a set of his crochet hooks...sigh!

No worries, Pat! I figured you didn't read the comments when I saw my name on that list, LOL! Hence, the no commenting on those particular posts anymore! No matter how pretty I think whatever it is, LOL! I'm so glad you stopped by to visit.

Hi Karen! I'm glad you like my LOTR reference, LOL! Some tatting shuttles are crafted beautifully, especially when we have talented artists like Dave from GMA! Oh, they are very usable! I definately intend on tatting with it for SURE!

Thank you, Carolyn! I cannot wait to tat with the pink ivory wood cameo shuttle! Oh, it is pretty. The photo just doesn't do it justice. You cannot see the little light streaks of pink that you can see up close and in person. Gollum was scary, HUH?

Hi Sherry! No, I haven't counted my shuttles, LOL! I think I'm afraid to, LOL!

Hello, Judy! Thanks for visiting! Yes, I am going to miss those darling little snowflakes after our winning year is over! :)
