I may have mentioned a time or two before that I love tatting exchanges. Recently, I participated in a spontaneous tatting exchange of a different sort.
The typical tatting exchange takes place when one tatter takes another tatter's tittle of tatting in exchange for a tidbit of the other tatter's tatting
(say that 5 times fast!~I think I just made up a new tongue twister, LOL).
Did you get all that??? This exchange was an atypical tatting exchange...I tatted for nontatted items...although they are tatting related.

Let me explain...
I have had the honor of
befriending through blogging a blogging buddy
(see, there I go again with the tongue twisters)
who not only tats,
she paints, carves wood, does woodburning art...
...you name it!
She is one fabulously talented lady.

You may have heard of her;
she is Tattycat
from Laura's Tatting Muse.
Not only is she talented,
she has been a warmhearted, supportive
friend through emails and blogging.
We decided to exchange some goodies one day.
I sent her some snowflakes I tatted in September
for these fabulous threadwinders!
What are threadwinders, you ask?
They are what you wind skeins of
HDT (hand dyed thread)
onto so you can tat with it.
She handpainted and/or woodburned them.
Aren't they beautiful?
Here is a darling butterfly and pretty bow that she painted.
Here are some beautiful handpainted and woodburned
daisy threadwinders that she did.
These next ones are beautiful butterflies with
artistically woodburned trees on them.
I call them
"Beau-Tree-Flies"!

She sent a hanky to sweeten the deal.
I can tat a sweet edging to go around it.
We calculated the time it took for our projects and
exchanged accordingly.

Wow, you certainly have a talented friend there! The but-tree-flies are wonderful.
Hi Laurie, the threadwinders hold thread. There are two photos in my post just prior to this one that show a threadwinder with thread wound around it. When you order HDT they come in skeins that need to be unwound and rewound in a ball or on a threadwinder or you get unwanted knots in the thread and it's BAD, real BAD!!!

That is such a lovely thing to do. Hmmm, you've got me thinking... an exchange of time. I'd love to do something like this at some point.
I think the butterflies are exquisite too, but all her work is gorgeous.
this was a wonderful exchange for both of you! I scuttled across to Laura's blog to look at the snowflakes you sent her, and I think you both have given and received some treasures! The thread winders are great! - and I love the hanky, almost my favourite thing to tat is hanky edges.

That is very cool! I love to crochet with thread, but I never could get the knack of tatting. Something to do with the twist of the wrist? It would be fun to do a crochet for tatting exchange sometime.

Swaps/exchanges are so fun! What wonderful tools you received for your art. Please show us the hanky once you've added the edge.
