I'm So Touched!

Currently, a wonderful event is taking place called One World~One Heart. It's a giveaway event where participating bloggers from all over the world each have a giveaway on their blogs. This is my first year particpating in this event. If you'd like to read more about this event and my giveaway please refer to the previous post here. Feel free to comment and enter on that blog post if you haven't already and if you would like to win some tatting supplies to learn how to tat, not to mention a hand tatted lace heart.

~*~

So, what's all this about being so touched?
I had no idea so many people were interested in learning to tat!
At the time of this post I've had 264 comments on
my blog as entries into the giveaway.
I'm so touched!
I'm honored!
Thank you!
So many of you have shared stories of a foremother
or relative who tatted and the story behind it.
Many of you yearn to learn how to tat.
So sweet, thank you.
I wish I had the funds to give all 264
(or more by now) of you
the supplies to learn how to tat!
One of the most touching stories has come from
She told me of her Aunt Ruth who tatted.
Aunt Ruth had tatted her some beautiful pieces.
She cherishes them to this day.
She was kind enough to share some
photos with me of these pieces.
Here they are!!
This is a triangular piece of tatting by her Aunt Ruth.
Here's a hexagonal tatted piece by her Aunt Ruth.

Aren't they lovely??
If you would like to read more of
Carolyn's story click here.

Please stop by and pay her a visit!
It's also her 23rd Wedding Anniversary.
One of these pieces was given to her by
her Aunt Ruth for their wedding.
Isn't that precious!?

Thank you, for sharing this, Carolyn.
~*~

I hope you stop and say hello before you run over to Carolyn's to wish her a happy Anniversary and drool over her cherished vintage tatting! I'd love to hear what you think! I know this is corny, but I have tears welling up in my eyes as I type this. I just find it so sweet and serendipitous that Carolyn commented on my tatting giveaway TODAY and TODAY is her wedding anniversary and she received one of the pieces for her wedding! It's just all too sweet! Thank you for stopping by! I cherish my blog friendships so very much! :)
Sincerely,
TattingChic
((HUGS))
P.S. Dont forget to stop by the giveaway post (click here) if you would like a chance to win some hand tatted lace and tatting supplies.

WOW Tattingchic I am amazed at the number of responses you have had to your giveaway. Who says tatting is a dieing art? I would say by the response to your giveaway that it is growing each day.

Unknown said...

Yes, Needledreams! That would be cool if you did enter OWOH next year.

Thank you for your sweet comment, Tracy! Enjoy your visit at Carolyn's.

Hi, Lori! Isn't the tatting gorgeous? Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Lori, those of us who tat really understand the length of time that went into those pieces. That's a lot of love in those tatted doilies.

Thanks, Marie Antoinette. I'm glad you stopped by to see my friend's Aunt's tatting. Glad you like it!

Yes, Clyde, isn't it wonderful that so many people are interested in it! Much of that has to do with the exposure that participating in OWOH gives to a blog giveaway! I'm so glad I was able to get a little something together. I already had the heart tatted a few years ago, WHEW! (whispers: It might not have happened if I'd had to tat one just for this, LOL!)

Very nice post TattingChic. I'm sure the tatted pieces are very special to Carolyn.

Thank you for stopping by my blog and always leaving such nice comments and for inviting me to join in on your giveaway. As much as I would appreciate winning such wonderful gifts from you, I'd rather see the gifts go to someone else, you seem to have a lot of entries for people wanting to learn to tat, so maybe one of them will win your generous gifts.

Take Care,

Carol Lawecki

Hi Carol, thanks for you nice comment. Glad to see you in bloggerland!

LOL, okay Stitchy McFloss! We can't have that. Glad you came to visit.

Oh, a giveaway, Pat? I'm there! Just let me know when and where... and I'll show up, LOL! Well, we know the "where" just let me know "when".

Thanks, Suzie

Aw, you're such a softie, Kathi! It's wonderful. Enjoy your visit at Carolyn's blog!

You're right, Vintage Girl At Heart! The tatting shuttles are little works of arts, themselves. Usually, it's the post ones that are so pretty. The bobbins ones, not so much. I love their practicality, though!

Thanks, Tattycat!

Hi, Michelle, it IS fun and enjoyable, don't ya think? I saw your comment on the giveaway and I think it'd be cool if you shuttle tatted. What a nice addition to the fact that you're needle tatting already!

Thank you so much, Yarnplayer! That really means a lot to me coming from you! Really I better not think about it too much cuz I gotta run to work now and it's making me tear up a little. So sweet and means soooo much.

This post and your giveaway one are wonderful. I didn't enter your giveaway as I would rather it went to someone without all those lovely supplies..that I have in abundance.

Apart from your tatted heart that is... we would all love a piece of someone else's tatting no matter how much we have of our own.

You are spreading the word about tatting so well.

Pat said...

Hey there! So nice of you to visit me this a.m. Always like your comments....LOVE your tatting...the one thing involving thread I never could learn...you do it so beautifully. Have a great day! Pat

you old softie you.... lol.... but, it is special.

And... I still think how small the world is when I find commenters I know from other blogs or from comments on my own when I visit other blogs...or if I see on their sidebars whose blogs they visit... out of all the millions of blogs....and I'm sure there must be at least millions....
I know Carolyn too... a fellow bear maker....

... and there's sweet Marie too....

Thank you for your very sweet comment, Tatskool! I appreciate that. It is nice to exchange tatting or win a piece of it, isn't it! It's all the more meaningful when you understand the time involved.

I joined in your giveaway. I do all sorts of needlework, but once I visited a relative in a nursing home. There was a lady in the front, tatting the most beautiful lace. I told her how lovely it was and the nurse said, dear she doesn't know where she is, she doesn't know anything.
But wherever she was, she had a big smile on her face. I decided then and there, I wanted to go with her!
If you get a chance, please check out one of my blogs, http://stitchingforacure.blogspot.com for something special I am doing.

Hi Lelia! How cool that you signed up for OWOH! I think I've already signed up for your giveaway, but just to make sure I'll go check it out.

Hi Couture de Papier! How nice of you to give credit to me for Carolyn's Aunt Ruth's tatting!!! Thank you, but no, they are not my creations, but I would LOVE to take credit for them, they are gorgeous! I can tell you are having fun responding to all your OWOH entries!

Oh, yes, Donna, I see... you want to drift up to tattyland, LOL! Well, welcome! It's a fabulous little place where shuttles grow on the shuttle tree and thread grows out of the ground like grass...it's wonderful here, LOL! ;)
