WIP It Good!!!

Does anybody remember "Devo"? LOL! Oh, I am sooooo an 80's girl and I'm okay with that. So what does tatting have to do with "Devo"? They had a song back in the 80's call "Whip it". One of the lines was "Whip it good!". Well, that's what I've been up to..."WIP"-ing it good! I've made some progress on my WIP (Work In Progress).

~*~

Here, I'll show you what I mean...
See?

I'm almost done with my "secret" WIP!

Now, I'm sure some of my tatting friends can
guess what pattern I've been up to, right?

Right, Jon? ;)

Do you like the shuttles?
They are from
Georgia Seitz.

~*~

For those of you totally stumped by my 80's flashback reference,
here's a hint.
(The rest of you can just reminisce in the insanity that was the 80's.)

Don't ya just love those red hats?
What was up with those things, anyway?
Ahhhhhh... memories
~*~

Thank you for letting me take you on a trip, yet again, down memory lane! You've been a fabulous passenger on this trip, LOL! Comments are welcome...as are any updates on any WIPs you might be working on!
WIP it! WIP it good!!!
Toodles,
TattingChic

How do you do it! As usual that looks so stunning, and what pretty tatting shuttles (is that the right term?). My WIP list is rather long! LOL. I'm going to clear some today, I hope!

Hi TattingChic,

I remember that song ~ I heard it again just the other day when they were playing 40 of the greatest tunes from the 80's

Enjoy your weekend.

I'm totally lost on the song reference, but I love the snowflake and the shuttles! I really must tat this snowflake soon!

The Quantiesque snowflake is quite lovely. Good for you!

Hi Lace Hearts! We both need to clear out our WIPs it sounds like.

Hi Carolyn! Oh, good, someone that remember's that song. It was a fun one to dance to I recall. It's so funny, during that time of my life I never saw myself reminiscing about it sometime, LOL!

Thank you, Reen. I enjoy tatting with white thread...it's kind of refreshing after all this HDT...which I still love, BTW!

That's okay, Diane, I figured a lot of people would be lost on the song reference, that's why I included the video for your viewing pleasure, LOL! Ya know, a play on words whip/WIP. I look forward to seeing your version of Jon's snowflake!

Hi Tattycat! Yes, you got it right...however did you guess??? LOL! With all the quanti's being posted out there it wasn't hard, huh?

YAY~

ROTFL! Well, my kids played a lot of music and watched a lot of videos but have to say I bailed and went elsewhere in the house most of the time so didn't recognize this one.

I recognized both Georgia's lovely shuttles and the becoming-a-classic-tat Quantiesque snowflake! I believe this is a first in white and it's outstanding as ever.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! Devo! And we thought they were cutting edge cool! ha ha ha ha ha! Now they seem so lame, eh? =) I am also a child of the 80's. Please NO rock lobster!!! lol

talia said...

i love the 80s too!! I remember Devo! I love the way you're wipping that WIP ;) (sorry i'm being corny now) Beautiful! I'm going to check out the link to the shuttles now, they are so beautiful. I just wish i could shuttle tat.

Betzie said...

Too cute! Loved that song, I remember too!!! Those shuttles are gorgeous as is your WIP! :))
I can NOT start collecting shuttle and I can NOT start a new hobby...namely, tatting! So stop tempting me already! LOL xo

Unknown said...

Gina, thank you so much for your sweet comment! I'm glad you "get" me, LOL! Thanks again for your help! You are a gem.

What NO Rock Lobster!?! I LOVED Rock Lobster AND OH!!! I LOVED "Love Shack" by the B-52's! THat was a totally fun song to dance to! Ya know, Devo's music video does look super funny now, but it really WAS cutting edge back then...they really helped get the music video business of to a jump start, as crazy as they were, LOL!

Corny is good, Talia, at least around here it is, LOL! If you've read my blog at ALL you know it's ALL ABOUT THE CORN! LOL! corny, that is...see, there I go again, being corny! I just can't help myself! The link to Georgia Seitz's site just leads you to her site. She has email info there and you can email her about the shuttles and she can send you photos of what she has via email. You pay via paypal and stuff. It's great!

LOL! No, Betzie, I cannot stop promising to tempt you to learn tatting! Besides, it's such an inexpensive hobby, LOL! Until you get addicted to HDT and all that jazz...sigh...then it becomes a lifelong obsession and a monthly bill, LOL!

Hi Tatting Chic, Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I have added you to my blogroll. I hope you will add mine to yours.:) I love your WIP and, yes while I am more a child of the 60s and 70s, I do love that song and thought Devo was a hoot. Now my 17 year old loves Devo so I am getting to "enjoy" it all over again.

I do not tat but my grandmother did and I have some of the things she created. She tried to show me once how to do it but I have the attention span of a cocker spaniel puppy and she just didn't have the patience for me.

I love your sense of humor and I'll be back to see what you are "Wip-ing Good" very soon.

Your work is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.

Thank you for your comment on my crazy patch embroidery photos. I only WISH I could tat as lovely as you. I tried the needle tatting, but I think your shuttle tatting looks nicer. Maybe I still need to practice.
Have a wonderful day.

Hi Christine, thanks for leaving such a sweet comment and I'm glad you "got" my Devo reference, LOL! Gosh, I don't know what I would do if I had to "enjoy" Devo all over again. Once in a while is plenty, LOL! I don't have a blog roll right now...I know, I'm behind the times, huh? Thank you so much for adding me to yours! You are a doll!

Hi Angel Doll! Your stitching is lovely! I love your posts. I hope you do learn to shuttle tat. I remember your beautiful tatting you tried out! That is why your blog is in my google reader, LOL!

LOL, Jen! You "got" it! YAY!!! Well, those hats are silly, but they sure looked cool and funny back then, huh?

Hi Kathi, thanks for stopping by. Wasn't that song fun to dance to. I think the kinky reference in it totally went over my head then, LOL! Oh, well, those were some fun times!

Lelia said...

Beautiful tatting. And, may I say, the shuttles are pretty, too! I remember DEVO, I"m such a fossil : ) I wish you could have been in our doll class, too. I put up a lengthy post & maybe you will have time to 'play' with your stash and find some stuff to add to your own inner doll. I can see a doll with small tatted butterflies, hearts, etc.

Enjoy the day!

Your tatting is just so pretty and the shuttles you use are gorgeous as well. It must make "working" so much nicer looking at those as you go....

What a fun blog you have! I think that song will be whipping/WIPing around in my head all day now! I love looking at tatting and collecting pieces from op/thrift/charity shops. MQDICLH - maybe one day I could learn how.

I'm still trying to make friends with my cheapy shuttle. I won't allow myself to get a prettier one until I master this one first. I'm doing okay making the double stitches. Now I'm trying to get the knack of making nice, neat picots. You keep posting all the pretties you're making to keep me inspired, 'kay?

Unknown said...

Oh, LELIA!!! I have GOT to learn SRE and CQ-ing! I am dying to learn so that I have somewhere to put all my little tatted motifs! I even think I have Pat's SRE book that I've actually had for ages!!! It would've been so much fun to be there with you and your friend and Pat in that class!

Hi, Our Shabby Cottage! Thank you for visiting! The shuttles are fun to work with because they are pretty. I like them in the photos, LOL!

LOL! The Vintage Rose, I love your acronym! You are too funny! I hope that song isn't stuck in your head for too long! It gets annoying after a while. ITIWBAIYLHTT! I Think It Would Be Awesome If You Learned To Tat!!!! TOTALLY AWEsome!

Jo, get well soon, okay? Thank you for stopping by! Wasn't Devo a trip? It's kind of funny to think that many of us that were young then thought they were so cool! LOL!

Karla, ya wanna know a secret? My absolutely favorite shuttle to tat with is my cheap-O plastic bobbin shuttles with the hook on them! Aero is my fave, but I use mostly Susan Bates brand because it's more accessible. I love having the small hook right there on the end for joining picots and other joins! I honestly dislike tatting with post shuttles (the pretty ones), LOL! They are more inconvenient for me because I have to pick up a dang hook everytime I want to join a freaking picot! They sure make for a pretty photograph, though! Seriously! I mostly got the pretty ones for photos on my blog, LOL! There it is...my secret! The shuttle isn't what make the tatting pretty it's YOU! YOU make it pretty with your hands and the tension and practise, practise, practise! You go girl! :)

Oh my gosh I so remember Devo! The song is now running through my head:) Ah yes the 80's, it seems like just yesterday...

The tatting is gorgeous! I have always wanted to learn how and maybe someday I will.

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving the kind comment:)

Have a wonderful day!

Wooo, you go, girl! That WIP is stunningly beautiful already!!!!

I'm such a child of the 80s, and I most definitely remember that song. I'd come home from school and watch hours of music videos. Remember when they were on free TV?

Did you hear that Devo sued McDonald's last year for a Happy Meal toy (New Wave Nigel) that wore a hat like theirs? You'd think they'd welcome the publicity and the chance to become immortalized as a plastic toy!

Keep those fingers rockin!

Rebecca Ramsey said...

Great! Now I've got that song in my head! It brings back high school memories. I shared it with my teens and they thought it was hilarious!

Ok I was getting a little scared about you post, but then I read past the Wip it good.... lol Love the song and the Devos.. You are a funny lady, love reading your posts. Thank you for the visit and comment. how sweet you are.

Hello to The Victorian Parlor! Thanks for stopping by. I couldn't resist the Devo reference; especially since everytime I see "WIP" written on someone's blog I tend to have that song go through my mind. I had to share, LOL!

LOL! Very funny, Tia! I think we have a few "standing up" LOL!

What? Devo sued McDonald's last year for the hat guy toys? LOL! That just makes them seem more absurd, LOL! I agree with you, Bella Sinclair; they could've been flattered and grateful for the free advertisment! After all...they really haven't had a hit in a while, now, have they? LOL! Though, they really were something back then.

Becky, I'd love to be a fly on the wall seeing your teens watch that video for the first time now, LOL! I know it must just seem sooo humorous to everyone now! It was humorous then, too!

Thanks, Alaura! Glad you read on, LOL! I appreciate your very sweet comment!

Awww...thank you, Jen! You totally made my day just now! :) ((HUGS))!!!

Hi Fanciful Twist! Isn't that lady in the background the window (of the video) whipping up some mashed potatoes? Or is it whipped cream, LOL?

Flowerpot men, LOL! That's funny, Gina! I think I remember my mom asking what they were doing with flowerpots on their heads, LOL!

Hi, Donna, yes, they are called shuttles! Hope I didn't shock you too much with the vid, LOL!

Thank you, Mel!

Hi, Kathy, that may very well why I tatted with those shuttles, very springy!

LOL! Cathy, I think I saw that video on MTV for the first time. I remember being completely mesmerized with the whole thing, LOL!

Thank you, Lori! I hope to finish it sometime today maybe!?

Hi Michelle, well, if you like 80's music, then yes, we would remember a lot in common, LOL! Thanks for stopping by.

LOL, Lady Shuttle Maker! Your head!?! It goes through my head everytime I see someone write something about their current WIP! LOL! I had to get it out somehow, LOL! Posting a blogpost about it seemed the only cure, LOL!

Thank you for stopping by for a visit, csipkelelkű! It is heartwarming to read your sweet comment! Please come and visit often!

Oh, this is gorgeous! I love the interlocking parts!

Whip it good was one of my faves. I used to go to aerobics years ago and the teacher used this song. It was great to get pumped up to!

The shuttles are very pretty.

My whole life is a WIP, lol...

Thank you for the nice comment about the tatting, Nikki! One thing we can all agree on is that the song definately exudes a lot of high energy! LOL! Glad you stopped by! :)

Renee said...

thanks for stopping by my blog, I just want you to know though that none of the artwork is mine. I am guilty of being an art stealer.

After the first two years of chemo treatments, I needed to do something so I got on the computer and starting downloading pictures (my sister showed me). So now I have a ton of pictures with no names beside them. I don't know how to link, but now when I see a picture I like, if there is a name attached to the art I do ask the artist for permission, that is why on some of the art you will see a name and on others you won't.

Sorry for all the confusion.

xoxo
