The Fruit of My Labor ~ Day

What to do for Labor Day weekend...
...you didn't think I could resist that B-day stash?

I started digging into my stash with this book.
It's called Spitzen - Kreationen
by Susanne Schwenke.
It's in German
(and no, I do not read German).

It does have some
pretty snowflake patterns
in it, though.
Like this one.
See how it's done in a graphic with numbers?
(click on the photo to enlarge it)

It's from the chapter
called Sternenhimmel.
I'm pretty sure that means
"stars" or "constellation" in German.
Anybody know for sure?
(Dantatter tells me it means "stars in the sky"
or "starry sky" to be most accurate.)
I'm including it in my
25 motif challenge.
Motif #11 Sternenhimmel
I tatted it in this.

It's a size 20 variegated blue crochet thread

in cordonnet mercer cotton.

It's called Glanzhakelgarn Uncinetto.

(at least it says that on the label...lol!)

This concludes my Labor Day show and tell. If you are in the USA I hope you have happy and safe Labor Day weekend. If you are one of my international blogging friends, I wish you a happy and safe weekend, wherever you are.

Thank you for visiting. As always, boomerangers and newcomers are always welcome. Comments are also welcome. They are always fun to read and I cherish each and every one of them.

Now, I must go attend to real life things...

...like unpacking...

....Yippee!

Can you feel the excitement?

Yes I can feel your excitement!!!
You do such wonderful work, what I wouldn't give to tat like you.
I am sure you don't need the German directions ,you probably need only to look at the picture and follow with your eyes to copy the pattern.Am I right???
Have fun with your goodies!!

I checked my dictionary and Sternenhimmel is the same as "starry sky", it is more correct than what I first told you.
Those German books look very promising, I look forard to hear your opinion.
You know have a huge lot of lovely new threads too so I hope we can expect to see some of your pretty tatting done in those in the future.
Yes it sounds like the perfect way to celebrate Labour Day or just an ordinary weekend. And unpacking ones tatting stuff is some of the important things, it sure defines a tatter's home (hope you know what I mean).

Hi Dantatter, so "starry sky" it is. So far I really like the German books. It seems that every pattern in them is very pretty and I like how the author has made the graphic and pattern easy to read in almost any language. I wouldn't recommend them for beginners of course, but if you have a good grasp of tatting and can look at a graphic and know when you would use 2 shuttles then you would be fine with them. I seem to like every German tatting designer's work that I have seen so far (Tina Frauburger, Emmy Liebert, and Susanne Schwenke). Happy Tatting!

Your snowflake looks awesome in that thread, Chiclet. I love the colour. Since you asked, the French book I was referring to is called Frivolite by Bernadette Baldelli. It was available from Handy Hands, but it is showing up as unavailable. I'll have to find another source. BTW, we have Labour Day here is Canada as well. That's why I was happy to work, since we would get double time. Can't wait to see what else you make with the threads and from the books.
