I Want My...

...HDT!

What other three letters were you thinking I was going to put down? Could it be you were thinking, "I want my MTV"??? Hmmmm....? If you were thinking that then you were not far off the mark. I was typing this with that song in mind that was made popular by the rock band Dire Straits. "Money For Nothing" was the title of the song I was making reference to and it was popular in 1985.

Why another reference to a song from the 80's? Well, someone told me they were sick of the other song from my previous post. They said that they were being "tortured" by it, I might add. LOL! ;) I promised that someone a new song today. So there it is...a new song...from the 80's. I think this came to mind because I made a purchase from Lady Shuttle Maker's Etsy Shop as she was preparing to leave on her trip to China (lucky girl)! I was anxiously awaiting her return from her trip to China to fill my order. I really wanted my HDT! Get it? LOL!?!

I'm not a HUGE fan of that song, but it seemed fitting for this post. ;)

~*~

It FINALLY arrived today.

YAY!!!
I ordered some
Silk HDT Threads
and here they are.
Top: Silk "Coral Rose" Size 60
Middle: Silk "Seaweed" Size 60
Bottom: Silk "Helms Deep" Size 60

Both: Silk "Autumn Medley" Size 60

~*~

There was another reason that

I wanted my HDT!

I had also ordered from

Tatskool

who just opened up her own HDT shop!

It had to come all the way from Ireland to So. Cal so

it took a while, but it was worth the wait.

Let me show you what I got.

Top two: "Coral Reef" size 40

Third from top: "Solid Turquoise Blue" size 60

Third from bottom: "Deep Solid Blue" size 60

Bottom two "Blue Lagoon" size 60

Top: "Apple Blossom Solid Green" size 20
Second: "Apple Blossom Solid Pink" size 40
Third: "Apple Blossom Solid Green" size 40
Fourth: "Apple Blossom" size 20
Bottom: "Apple Blossom" size 40

I have been drooling over Tatskool's thread that
I just showed you for months!
The following thread is one that many
internet HDT addicts worldwide are drooling over.
Can any of you fellow HDT addicts guess the name
of the "mystery thread" pictured below?

No, there's not a prize, just the satisfaction of knowing
you got it right, LOL! :)

~*~

Next I'd like to show you the lovely
wooden handcarved tatting shuttles
that I got from Noreen at
Hankering for Yarn!
This is the Little Bird Tatting Shuttle

Next is the Cute Hedgehog Tatting Shuttle.

**********

Note: The following photograph

contains a graphic image.

Please prepare yourself.

**********

Mr. Hedgehog Shuttle sustained
some fatal injuries on the journey
here and....
...sniff...sniff...
had to be "put down".
At least he died with a smile on his face.

~*~

After we've all had an appropriate moment of silence for Mr. Hedgehog shuttle, I just want to say how much I appreciate your love and support during this difficult time of loss. I cannot tell you how saddened I am.
Noreen from Hankering for Yarn is having a giveaway! Go check it out. She sends her condolences on Mr Hedgehog and has reassured me that a new one is on the way. If you would like a chance to own a Hedgehog shuttle or one of her many other giveaway items go check it out! Don't worry, they don't usually come that way, LOL! Let's just say it was the "postman's fault". I've gotten two other shuttles from Noreen that arrived safe and sound.
Comments are always welcome. Each one is read and appreciated; I can assure you.
Thanks for letting me show you the latest delve into my tatting addiction. Something tells me I'm not alone...
Tah tah for now,
TattingChic :)

My sympathies on your loss of Mr. Hedgehog shuttle!

Isn't it true that when a thread comes a long distance, it seems more special? At the time of this writing, I have yet to make a sale to anyone in my hometown - even after my appearance on local TV! How thankful I am for the Internet, that allows me to send HDT around the world!

Susanne said...

No wonder there was no blue thread left for me to buy when I see your lot here, roflol. ;-D
I agree it is so exciting to be awaiting those beautiful HDT's they are all making for us to buy.
I am so sorry for Mr. Hedgehog's passing away. It is always so sad when a friend is leaving.
Enjoy your goodies.

I am ROFLOL!!! Yes, I remember I want my MTV...Ok...we have to be close in age, which kind of scares me! ;>

My deepest sympathies on the loss of Mr. Hedgehog, I know it will be difficult but you must go on!

I am always in awe of the colors, can you imagine back in "the day" when tatting first started if those women would have had all of these colors...I can just look at them all day long :).

A lovely post, thank you!

Hugs,
Kathi :)

Funny thing about songs isn't it...stick in your brain! :)

Hi Becky, thanks for stopping by. I need to get tatting again, LOL! I've spent too much time "shopping" for tatting stuff online.

Hi Yarnplayer and thank you for your condolences. Yes, I guess for some reason sometimes "faraway places" seem more romantic. I have to say, though, that where I live now I think that anything from here is pretty special, LOL! I didn't grow up in my current town of residence, though, LOL!

LOL, Susanne, that's the thing about Mr Hedgehog; he was DOA (dead on arrival)! I NEVER got a chance to call him 'friend'...sniff.

LOL, Clyde, oh, I don't know! I've never ordered 12 skeins of one color from Yarnplayer...YET! ;)

Hi Tattycat! Thanks for visiting. Glad you like the colors, no one seems to be venturing a guess on the "mystery thread", hmmmm...

Hi Rue, thank you for humoring me with my little whims, LOL! Your a sweet bloggy friend.

Hi Kathi! LOL, glad you like the NEW post. You are so fun. I've enjoyed all your fun comments. Now I get to "torture" you with a new song. ;)

Hi Patty, Yes, "someone" really said that. That was Kathi from Lavendar, Lace, and Thyme and it was all in good fun! I think we are from the same era/generation and certain songs may have certain memories for each of us, LOL! Who knows? But it was funny. You'd have to go read through the comments on my last post to have a better understanding and that is only if you are REALLY bored! LOL!
I LOVE your vintage bike photos! As a matter of fact, I LOVE all of your fabulous vintage photos. That is one of the reasons I have your blog in my google reader which I just happened to be looking at when your blog post popped up! Have a fabulous rest of your weekend and thanks for stopping by...whew...that was a LONG one, LOL!

Hi there tattingchic! Thanks for visiting my blog and posting. I've been browsing your blog and I LOVE it! I would love to learn to do real tatting ... those HDT's are to die for! I love the lace on my pocketbook, and it does look tatted (to me at least!) but wouldn't it be great if I could create my own laces to coordinate perfectly with my fabrics? OMG. I'm going to have to find some tutorials from you and your friends! THANKS for the invite and teaching me about handmade tatting. I can't wait to try it!

I'm off to the tile store...there has to be some sort of edging tile or something... What if I just soldered some glass, with just white paper (painted in the corner), I bet that could be written on huh...umm, I'll let you know by the end of the day.lol. Laurie

Hi, Dianne, so glad you came to check out tatting. I hope you come visit anytime!

Hi Laurie! I wonder what you found at the tile store! I hope some pretty tiles the right size for your placecard idea! That would be so totally cool!

LOL! Please don't say that you're a dinosaur, Cathy! That would make two of us, LOL! :)

Don't throw him out! Wood Glue it and tape it up and let it sit hopefully that surgery will do the trick!

A moment of silence for mr. hedgehog! poor guy! I can't wait to see what you do with those threads!

Unknown said...

Hi Lady Shuttle Maker, so glad to have saved you the "shock" of seeing a broken shuttle. LOL, yes, once you got back, the threads did arrive quickly! LOL!

HI Gina, thanks for the link. That's a purchase for another day...in a month or two...I've spent myself silly on tatting goodies.

Hi, Melissa, who said anything about throwing him out!?! That's not a very respectful way to treat a hedgehog shuttle, now is it, ROFLOL!? I may try woodglue, however, Noreen assures me that a new one will be on it's way as soon as she can whittle one up for me.

Thanks, Jen R. I'm sure the Hedgehog appreciates your respects. You are too kind. I look forward to tatting something up with the threads, too! :)

Don't you miss the days when MTV played music videos that you could sing and dance to? The last time I turned it on there wasn't a video to be found anywhere.

Your new thread is beautiful and my condolences to poor Mr. Hedgehog.

Hi,
Thanks for visiting! I know poor kid had to go to Italy last year.
Love those colors!! Can't wait to see what you will make with them. I know absolutely nothing about your tatting, only know that it is a beautiful talent, I do not have.
So sorry about Mr. Hedgehog!

Oh, I feel so sorry about lovely Mr Hedgehog. His time was so short, and he never had a chance to prove his worth. Ah, well. The threads you've bought are gorgeous. I guess you've already tatted them up into something wonderful?!

Oh my if I keep coming here, you'll convince me to try tatting and I just can't right now! I have too many other things going on, too many other hobbies, and NO I will NOT start yet another new craft/art!!! LOL Your new shuttles are just so so neat! Love the bird one especially...

I look forward to seeing what you come up with, Laurie. It sounds like you had a great day!

Hi Darly, thanks for visiting. A new hedgehog is on his way!

Hi Marie Antoinette, I'm so glad that in your "not blogging much" time that you would take the time to visit me. The apple blossom and blues are my favorites, too!

Hi Tracy, you are right, the little bird does need a companion and Noreen assures me that a new Hedgehog is on it's way to me.

Hi Grizzly Mountain Arts! I appreciate your condolences...LOL! You are right the days when MTV was actually "music television" are long gone, aren't they?

Hi Rosemary, Yes, your poor daughter has a sad life, LOL! ;) I'm so glad you take the time to come visit even if you know nothing of tatting! Your visits always brighten my day!

Hi Lace Hearts, thanks for visiting. Funny thing, the last thing I tatted was with very cheap "Aunt Lydia" crochet thread! LOL! Go figure! It's like tatting with straw it's so stiff and hard, but it is cheap and it was the only brand that carried the color I needed.

Welcome, Betzie! Oh, do come again! I'd love to see tatting mixed with the beautiful work that you do over on your blog.

Hee hee, thanks, Mia! Glad you came to visit and that you got the joke...thanks for laughing, LOL! :)

I am just finding your blog. What a treasure! As a young girl, I remember two sisters, Nora & Dora, who did tatting. What precious memories. Thanks for a lovely blog.

I am so sad about the hedgehog! I once did a post on the fact that I have been collecting them for years. They are my favorite animal.
Just put him on shelf and appreciate the beauty of his wood.
Poor baby! By the way, when are we
going to see something made from ALL that thread? ha, ha Nerm

That is sweet that you had two sisters who tatted, Mildred. Glad to bring back some pleasant memories for you! Come and visit often! :)

Hi Nerm, yes, poor Mr. Hedghog shuttle. Noreen is making me a new one! I found your Hedgehog post from May of this year.
LOL, funny thing, the lastest thing I made was this weekend and it was from the CHEAPEST Aunt Lydia brand crochet thread, LOL! I'll show you that later this week!

Hi Laurie! Why, Google Reader, of course! You're in there! I just happened to be online when your post appeared. I think you are really onto something there with those little placecards. When I am
"rich" I am ordering a set of six I tell ya, I am!
