Playing "Catch~Up" with the TIAS

On a previous post I showed you some new shuttles and a current project I am working on called a TIAS. "TIAS" stands for Tat It And See. I have no idea what it is that I am tatting because the designer reveals only a portion of the pattern little by little. I just have to "tat it and see" what it is! This TIAS is hosted by the world famous tatting designer Iris Niebach. I'm not sure how she feels about being called "world famous", but when it comes to tatting design she sure is! Iris has a blog called the The Tattingplayer. That is where the pattern bits are posted.

I'm so excited to finally get caught up with all four days that have been posted so far! I was behind for several days and today I got caught up on Days 2-4. The nice thing about a TIAS is that you don't have to do it exactly at the same time that the person hosting the TIAS posts the pattern bits. You can start late...months or even years later if you had to... just as long as the TIAS pattern pieces are still available online.

Any guesses on what it could be?

I have no idea. I do know this ~ whatever
it is ~ it sure is beautiful!

Iris is known for her beautiful
and intricate tatting designs.

Thank you, Iris!

I look forward to the other days of this TIAS.

You may have noticed in the photos above that a new tool is appearing with the bunny and goddess tatting shuttles. That is a mini crochet hook (this one is a 0.5mm hook) attached by a silver and turquoise bear shaped beaded chain to a ring that fits my little finger. I use that hook to join parts of the pattern to itself. For those of you who tat it is perfect for doing picot joins and lock joins. As you can see there is no pick or hook on these lovely hand carved shuttles so I use a crochet hook to take it's place. In this case I thought this was a lovely tool, much prettier than a regular ol' stainless steel crochet hook! I got it from Alexandra Beatty Designs! Yes, the same shop that I got my "Wild Thing" tatting shuttle, LOL!

Thank you for stopping by! I always appreciate comments. Whether you have a guess on the TIAS or you just want to say hello ~ your comments are welcome!

Have a fabulous week! :)

Bye for now,

Take A Walk On The MILD Side

If you guessed that the title of this post is a tongue-in-cheek poke at the song "Take a Walk on the Wild side", then you guess right! It is!
For those of you who still might be in shock from my previous post I have something a little more on the mild side for you to help calm things down! I want to inform you that it does still have to do with a wild animal. It's okay, because there's no scary videos to introduce it; no flashy graphics; no bells and whistles. It's just a nice, warm, fuzzy tatting shuttle.

~*~
See?
Awww....now, isn't that cute?
It's a little pink bunny tatting shuttle!!!
See, that wasn't so bad for a "wild" animal was it?
Okay, if you thought that was okay,
then you might like this next one.
The Goddess tatting shuttle.
I found these while visiting my bloggy friend,
Here's her blog post on these very shuttles.
Noreen is a talented needle artist who
does all kinds of needlework and she makes and
sells unique and original needlework tools
that are whimsical and fun.
Here is her Website.
She also has an Etsy shop!

Here they are together!
How sweet!
They are great friends!

They even play well together!
Click on the photo to be taken to the start of the TIAS pattern!
I am currently getting caught up on the latest TIAS.
TIAS means "Tat It And See"
In a TIAS tatters from all over the world participate online.
A tatting pattern is given to the tatter a little bit at a time.
Only the designer knows what the end result will be.
So, I actually have no idea what I am tatting! LOL!
The picture above is TIAS Day 1.
This TIAS is being hosted at the blog known as The Tattingplayer.
She's actually a well known tatting designer
from Italy named Iris Niebach! She is known for her
beautiful and intricate tatting designs and she has published
several lovely tatting books! I have all of them!
If you click on her name above it will take you to
her website and you can see some of her lovely
books and exquisite tatting designs.

By now you may have noticed that I have a taste
for whimsical needlework tools!
Here's a photo of my current WIP
with my black sheep measuring tape!
Isn't he cute? I guess sheep are a domesticated
animal so they don't count as a wild animal.
If you like sheep stories then hop on over to
Bella Sinclair's! She's got a very humorous
sheep story to share with you!
Hope you weren't scared too
Baa-a-a-a-a-adly
by the mild-wild animals here today!

Before you run off to visit all the blog offerings I linked in my post today I do hope you stop for a minute just to say hello! Comments are always welcome here at TattingChic! I hope your weekend is wrapping up nicely for you!

TIAS 4 ~ Complete!

Remember the TIAS?
TIAS is the acronym
for Tat It And See.
Online tatters are given a piece of the pattern
each day without knowing what we're tatting.
It has been fun seeing everyone's guesses...
...from pineapples and grapes to beds and houses!
I was stumped, even up to the 11th hour! LOL!
Lady Shuttle Maker hosted
this TIAS and she did a fabulous job of keeping
the mystery alive!
Ready to have the TIAS revealed?
May I have a drumroll please.....

....TAH DAH!
It's a LIGHTHOUSE BOOKMARK!!!

Hey? Where'd that sand come from?

The BEACH!!!
LOL!

I couldn't take a picture of a
tatted Lighthouse Bookmark
with out the proper backdrop,
now could I?
Look at these cute little
birdie tracks right by where
I took my photo this morning.

Yes, I really ran down to the
beach and snapped these shots
this morning, LOL!
Here's my attempt at
Tatted Lighthouse Bookmark at The Beach

Now, just look at the backdrop
from a clearer point of view.
Ahhhhhh......

Look at that! A beach shot in So. Cal sans surfers!!!
How did that happen?

TIAS 4 Day 11

One more day of the
current TIAS and I
still have absolutely
no idea what it is.
Do you?
Day 11 is shown below.
It is tatted on top of the
tatting for Day 9.
Here it is with the rest of the
tatting for the TIAS 4.
TIAS stands for
Tat It and See.

Any guesses?
Just one more day
is left until it is completed.
In a TIAS online tatters
are given just one portion of the
pattern one day at a time
without knowing ahead of time
what the completed pattern
is going to be.
Is it a pineapple with a hat on?
Maybe it's a pink & purple house
on (pink) fire.
So, what is that other thing???
is hosting the current TIAS.

Here is the latest
installment of the
the current TIAS.

one day at a time
without really knowing what it is we're tatting.)

okay, I'm kidding,
I do have some ideas,
but I don't really know! LOL!

TIAS 4 Day 8

Woo Hoo!!! All caught up with
the TIAS.
Just in case you're new here
TIAS means
Tat It And See.
Here's the tatting
for Day 8.
It is tatted around
Day 7's tatting.

This is my first TIAS.
There have been 3 others.
I've only seen 2 progress.
This is the first one I've seen
that has different
"parts."
See all the parts?

You may be wondering what it is.
I just want to let you in
on a little secret.
"You are not alone!"
Shhhhhh! That was the secret.
The only person who knows
what the complete
pattern looks like is
Lady Shuttle Maker.
You see, we just get
a little bit of the pattern
one day at a time.
Sometimes she gives us
the weekend off.

how other tatters are
doing with their

TIAS 4 Day 7

I am slowly catching up on
the current TIAS
as the day progresses.
TIAS=Tat It And See.
Here is my interpretation
of the instructions for
Day 7.
It's tatted around the
element from Day 1.
What is it?
Well, I don't know.
I have to
tat it and see!
;)
Here it is with all
it's TIAS 4 friends.
:)
See?
The 4th TIAS is being hosted
has photos of everyone's
progress who is participating.
Well, that's all for now folks.
I'm going to go get caught up
to day 8 next.
More to come!

TIAS 4 Day 6

Here it is.
I finally have time to
catch up with the
current TIAS.
If you are new to this blog
or don't know what TIAS stands for,
I'll be glad to tell you.
TIAS is the acronym for
Tat It And See.
Tatters who are involved in
the online tatting community
are given a piece of a tatting pattern
day by day
and are not told what the end result is.
In order to find out
what it is
we have to
tat it and see!
This is Day 6

Here it is with the other
elements of the current
TIAS.
This is the 4th TIAS that
has been done so
that's why it's called
TIAS 4.

The tatting done for Day 6
was added to the element
tatted on Day 3, see?
(click on the pink word to see)
If you are a tatter who doesn't
have a blog but would like to participate
the links are available at Lady Shuttle Maker's Blog
where the current TIAS is being hosted.
You can tat it up and email the photos
to Lady Shuttlemaker (details on her blog).
She will post them on the Official TIAS Blog.
You do not have to have a camera to be
able to participate.
You can simply tat it on your own,
remain anonymous, and
follow everyone else's progress if you'd like.
You don't even have to tat
to try to guess what it is we're
tatting.
What do you think it is?
I have no idea!
Stay tuned!

TIAS 4 Day 5

The mystery of the
TIAS continues.
TIAS is the acronym for
Tat It And See.
A tatting project where only
a portion of the tatting pattern
is revealed one day at a time.
~*~
The fun of it is in
guessing what it might be.
I have no clue,
do you?
~*~
Here is the continuation
of TIAS 4
Day 5.
It is the dark teal
tatted on top of
Day 4's addition
which is tatted around
Day 2's motif.
~*~
Here it is with
it's counterparts.
Day 1
is on the left.
Day (2, 4, &) 5
is in the middle.
Day 3
is on the right.
I still have to
tat it and see
what it is!
~*~
Any guesses?

This TIAS is hosted on
with the progress of other
tatter's work doing the
TIAS on the TIAS blog.

TIAS 4 Day 4

I am getting closer
to being caught up on the
current TIAS.
~*~
What is does
TIAS stand for, my friend?
It means
"Tat It And See"
~*~
This is the 4th one
that online tatters
have participated in.
The photo below is
the results of following
Day 4's instructions.

See how it is tatted
around the motif done for
Day 2 of this TIAS.

You can refer back to

the difference.

What could it be?
A fancy candle?
I'll just have to

TIAS 4 Day 3

I finally have time to get

TIAS 4 Day 2

For those of you watching to see the latest TIAS developments;
here are my results of day 2.

What is a TIAS?
Tat It And See.
No, I'm not being obnoxious, silly.
That's the name of the TIAS!
;)
The motif
on the left
is day 1
The Motif
on the right
is day 2

What are they?
Little purses?
Bags?
Your guess is as good as mine,
because we only get a portion of
the pattern at a time.
I think the photo is deceiving
as to the size of the motifs.
For that reason I took
another photo of them
on top of a
U.S. Quarter Dollar
for a size comparison.

Kinda small huh?
That's because they are done
in size 50 cotton thread.
If you tat and would like to join in on the fun of the latest TIAS
it's being hosted over at Lady Shuttle Maker's blog. The photos of everyone participating are still being showcased at the official TIAS site by Jane Eborall.
Thanks for stopping by. I love visitors whether you tat or not it doesn't matter to me. I love sharing my favorite hobby with my favorite blog friends, like you!
As always, comments are welcome.

My First TIAS!

TIAS!?!

What in the heck is a TIAS?
Let me explain, TIAS is the acronym lovingly given by internet tatters worldwide (...and yes, I DO mean WORLDwide) for "Tat It And See".

So without further adieu I give you my first portion of the TIAS #4, day 1!

TAH~DAH!

What is it, you ask?
LOL, well, that's just it!
We have to...

...Tat It And See!

That's what makes TIAS so much fun.
You only get a portion of the pattern
each day.
You have no idea what you are making,
until the very end when it's all done.
If you like to tat and would like to join
in feel free to hop right in.
You don't have to post your
results on the internet to join in the fun.
If you don't have a blog you can always
email the pics to Lady Shuttle Maker.
Her information is on her TIAS day 1 post
and the link to her blog is below.

TIAS was first started by Jane Eborall. This year it is being hosted by Lady Shuttle Maker.
The link for the directions for the TIAS #4, Day 1 are found here.
Photos of results of everyone participating are found on the official TIAS site.
I whipped this little bit of "whatever it is" this evening after work. Being the "rebel" that I am I am tatting in in size 50 thread (a smaller thread) than the size 20 thread (larger thread) that the pattern calls for.
Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to leave a comment if you feel so inclined. They are always welcome. So glad you are part of my blog-world!
Sincerely,
TattingChic
((hugs))
